There have been more than one million coronavirus cases and tens of thousands of deaths in California. Many of the children and families we serve have been adversely affected—through infection, furloughs, layoffs, and even the death of a loved one. They struggle daily with increased mental and behavioral health issues, trauma, food and housing insecurity, lack of access to WiFi and technology, and reduced community and interpersonal supports. These stressors often hinder their ability to overcome traumatic and difficult pasts.

This holiday season, we will carefully use funds entrusted to us to help families like Lucía’s with necessities such as laptops for distance learning and telehealth services, as well as essential behavioral health services that ensure children and teens can thrive in school and at home.

For many, we are their only support system left, but together, we can make a difference.
