Mental Health Worker Training

Interested in beginning or advancing a rewarding career in mental health services? Seeking deeper insight into behavioral healthcare and serious mental illness? Mental Health Worker Training may be what you’re looking for. Offered though community colleges in Pasadena and Santa Ana, these free multi-week courses, funded by the Mental Health Services Act, are open for enrollment by behavioral healthcare consumers. The Pasadena City College program also welcomes family members and others from the community. Graduates leave with a certificate and enhanced potential as to earn a living in such crucial professional positions as mental health worker, case manager assistant or mental health educator/advocate. Sample course topics include:

  • Professional roles in mental health services
  • Documentation and reporting requirements
  • Principles of case management and diversity
  • Practical field experience at Pacific Clinics sites is included, supervised by case managers
