Gender, Sex, Culture and Society: The Diversity of Human Sexuality (CR, LR) (#3051-C)

This 2 day training interactive course, led by an enthusiastic presenter, is designed to be fun as well as to assist participants in gaining knowledge about, and comfort discussing, the human reproductive system, developmental issues of sexuality, the sexual response cycle, sexual dysfunction and treatment, sexual orientation and gender identification, and client-centered methods of obtaining a sexual history. Participants will also explore their own cultural values and beliefs about sexuality.

As a result of attending this training, participants should be able to:

  • Be more aware of their own values and beliefs, as well as those of others regarding issues of Human sexuality.
  • Be able to identify by name parts of the human reproductive and sexual anatomy and their functions.
  • Describe the human sexual response cycle
  • Identify developmental issues regarding sex during stages of the life cycle.
  • Identify and describe sexually transmitted diseases, as well as have an idea of the risk of transmission based various sexual behaviors.
  • Identify psychosocial issues that effect the sexuality of Lesbians and Gays.
  • Identify the various manifestations of Transgender issues.
  • Describe the symptoms, causes, and treatments of various Female and Male sexual disorders.
  • Describe how cultural experiences have influenced their own, as well as their clients’ values, beliefs and experiences of sexuality. 
  • Add a comprehensive, client centered sexual assessment to their psychosocial assessment skills.
