Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) Training for Case Managers, Mental Health Workers, Peer Partners & Administrative Staff (CR, WR) (#4092-C)

This training is for Pacific Clinics employees only and is not open to the public.

This training is not applicable for therapists, interns or nurses.

Course Description:  QPR – Question, Persuade, and Refer training is a suicide prevention training. This course teaches participants how to recognize the warning signs of a suicidal crisis and how to persuade the person to get professional help. We will look at some common myths about suicidal behavior. Participants will learn to recognize the risk factors for suicide as well as protective factors that can impact suicidal behavior. We will also look at how cultural variables can influence attitudes towards suicide and suicide risk. This course meets the agency requirement for cultural trainings.

Course Objectives: Upon completing the QPR training participants will be able to:

  • Recognize when someone at risk for suicide
  • Recognize and identify three risk factors for suicide
  • Recognize and identify three protective factors for suicide
  • Understand the common myths and facts surrounding suicidal behavior
