Capacitación: The online 80 hr. Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification training equips aspiring peer support specialists in learning skills-based content while utilizing their lived experiences to gain employment within the mental health services field. Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists have a transformative effect on care. Whether through emergency response, inpatient settings, primary care, or alongside mental health professionals, peers use their valuable lived experiences to help others navigate and progress in their own recovery process.

Once you become a Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist and are working in behavioral health care providing peer services, your assigned program coordinator will check in with you periodically and be available to provide job retention services and re-placement assistance if needed. These services are provided for a minimum of 6 months. Once you complete the minimum time requirements and you feel confident and competent in the workforce, participants are considered program graduates/alumni.
