Support Services offer various programs to address social determinants of health, including housing and employment coaching and placement, among other critically needed services.
The Pacific Clinics Peer Careers program includes the 80-hour Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist (CMPSS) training, support to successfully pass the CMPSS exam and obtain state certification, help to obtain a peer position/internship or support to maintain a peer job, career counseling and guidance for up to six months post placement. Need-based financial assistance is available to help pay application and exam fees.

Prior to admission to the PC Peer Careers program, applicants must meet the following:
Applicants are reviewed on an ongoing basis and must attend an initial orientation and career planning meeting to be considered for this program.
All participants are required to develop a career plan with the guidance and support from a Program Coordinator.
Training: The online 80 hr. Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification training equips aspiring peer support specialists in learning skills-based content while utilizing their lived experiences to gain employment within the mental health services field. Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists have a transformative effect on care. Whether through emergency response, inpatient settings, primary care, or alongside mental health professionals, peers use their valuable lived experiences to help others navigate and progress in their own recovery process.
Retention and Re-placement Services:
Once you become a Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist and are working in behavioral health care providing peer services, your assigned program coordinator will check in with you periodically and be available to provide job retention services and re-placement assistance if needed. These services are provided for a minimum of 6 months. Once you complete the minimum time requirements and you feel confident and competent in the workforce, participants are considered program graduates/alumni.

We have led professional development courses, aligning with peer empowerment, respect, and resiliency principles. We offer virtual peer specialist training. Our virtual classroom offers live webinars, discussions, self-paced training modules and coaching sessions. Experienced instructors unlock the full potential of individuals through culturally responsive training focused on the 17 core competencies and the Code of Ethics for Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists. Participants will achieve confidence and competence to obtain their certification and specialty certifications.
