The San Diego Union-Tribune recently spotlighted San Diego County’s new $75 million investment to grow the behavioral health workforce, highlighting how Pacific Clinics Training Institute will play a key role in training and certifying individuals pursuing peer support specialist careers.
The county’s ELEVATE initiative aims to tackle workforce shortages through apprenticeships, graduate-level loan programs, and paid training pathways that make entering the behavioral health field more accessible. Pacific Clinics Training Institute is a key partner specifically in the Peer Support Training Grant Program, helping prepare individuals with lived experience to become certified peer support specialists, who provide culturally responsive guidance, recovery navigation and community-based support.
This investment reflects the county’s commitment to rapidly expanding the mental health talent pipeline and Pacific Clinics Training Institute’s involvement underscores its leadership in workforce development, equity-driven training and community-rooted care access.
