We help our parents prioritize rest by offering paid respite! This means you’ll get paid days off to recharge away from the child in care during the program duration.

24/7 Access to Supports

The children we serve often need a supportive team to help them get through a rough time. Our trauma-informed clinicians are on-call and available for wellness sessions for you and the child in care.

Stipend amounts are based on the level of care needed for matched child(ren).

Comprehensive support from California’s largest behavioral health agency

Children in foster care are removed from their biological parents’ homes for safety reasons. This could include abuse, neglect, abandonment, death, incarceration or mental health concerns. These life-altering circumstances require extra care from providers and caregivers. That’s why when joining our community of foster parents, your support team is made of trauma-informed clinicians available on-call to help you navigate how to successfully raise a child in foster care.

Frequently asked questions

Can I be a foster parent if I’m retired, a stay-at-home partner, between jobs or work in the gig economy?

You do not have to have a job to become a foster parent. However, you do need to prove you have a steady source of income or adequate resources to provide for your and the child’s needs.

We accept individuals with a range of employment circumstances. This includes recent graduates, interns, freelancers, solopreneurs, business owners, entrepreneurs, those in between jobs, retired people and those who aren’t currently employed or have never been employed.

Regardless of which agency a child is placed with, there is one thing that is true for all children in foster care: they’ve experienced a non-ideal situation that is causing their removal from their biological parent’s home. Being placed in the child welfare system is traumatic. This experience can cause behavioral health challenges later in life. As California’s largest behavioral healthcare agency, we believe we can reduce the impact of trauma by providing treatment for children early on.

Other foster care agencies don’t typically offer our high level of care to foster families, leaving many confused and without proper support and guidance. By joining our program, parents feel more confident about navigating through a child’s hardest moments away from their biological parents.

Additionally, our program approaches the journey of foster parenting with holistic-focused benefits that help you prioritize rest, strengthen your parenting skills and feel confident in raising children in the foster care system.

Our program’s goal is to provide vital resources to the caregivers who are stepping up to ensure the children we serve are living in a safe, familiar environment. We know that these caregivers are critical to our mission. Our philosophy is that when the caregiver feels supported, they are better able to support the child in their care. This is the difference between Pacific Clinics and any other foster care agency.

In addition to our vetting process, we are looking for coachable individuals who are emotionally available and willing to learn. We work with a range of individuals regardless of their parenting experiences.

A foster parent is, among many other things, a role model and a safe space for our children. If you want to make a difference in a child’s life, chances are, you’re fitter to be a foster parent than you realize!

If you would like more experience in parenting before deciding to have a child of your own, becoming a foster parent is an ideal opportunity for you. We can’t stress enough how our program was designed to help our parents feel adequately resourced and equipped throughout the process.

You’ll also have access to support groups with other foster parents in your area to discuss and learn from.

Join us and never feel like you have to do it alone ever again.

The duration of care varies depending on matched child(ren) and will last anywhere between 60 days to 12 months per child. You will be supported with paid respite, behavioral health services and monthly stipends throughout the entirety of each child’s care.

There is no minimum for how long you’re able to serve and participate in our program. We hope this opportunity opens the door for you, and any referrals you make, to being a lifelong foster parent! More than 45,000 children in California’s child welfare system depend on safe and caring individuals like you during this time of need.

Becoming a foster parent shouldn’t be scary, confusing or exhausting. If you have any other questions about becoming a foster parent, contact us.

The recent wildfires have deeply tested our resilience as the devastating fires in Southern California continue to impact countless lives. Tragically, 40 of our employees and clients have lost their homes, and many more have been evacuated as the emergency unfolds. Our teams continue to assist clients and families during this time.
