Camp Hollygrove, based at our Hollygrove campus in Los Angeles, turns summertime into an opportunity to help children and teens replace the trauma in their life with new, meaningful memories. Each week carries a new theme, and after a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, the team was excited to bring back an employee and camper favorite to kick off the summer: Olympics Week!
Olympics Week highlights athletic talents and teamwork, culminating in a competition with a variety of events, such as a 50-yard dash, a relay race and a cannonball competition. This year, 36 campers were assigned a country for which they would compete for the honor of bringing home the gold medal.
At the end of the week, parents and family members were invited to partake in the closing ceremony, which included a medals presentation.
More About Camp Hollygrove:
Camp Hollygrove is a week-long therapeutic day camp for children and adolescents in Hollywood and South Central Los Angeles who need specialized attention due to emotional and behavioral challenges that interfere with academic performance. It is offered during summer vacation with a wide range of engaging activities that challenge children to explore their strengths, find different ways to learn, understand the meaning of teamwork, define their values and give back to the community.
