Pacific Clinics is proud to share that we have been recognized as the number one training provider for California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) in California’s Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist certification.

Over a two-month period, Pacific Clinics successfully led eight cohorts through a comprehensive training program designed to strengthen the state’s peer specialist workforce and enhance behavioral health support across communities.

As an approved training provider through CalMHSA, Pacific Clinics Training Institute delivered a robust 80-hour curriculum for each cohort, combining 40 hours of self-paced content with 40 hours of live instruction — including six sessions conducted in person and two virtually. This blended model provided participants with flexibility while ensuring meaningful engagement and skill-building opportunities.

More than 170 individuals completed the full training and are now on the path to certification, ready to bring their lived experience and professional knowledge to behavioral health settings across California. CalMHSA approved all participants to attend at no cost, with application and exam fees fully covered, making this training accessible to those ready to make a difference.

“Our trainers have done something truly impactful,” said Audrey Read Brown, executive director of Neurodevelopmental Services, Pacific Clinics Training Institute, Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly. “For every person trained, that individual is reaching and supporting countless clients. The impact multiplies, especially when considering how powerful it is to have peers with lived experience as part of treatment teams.”

Pacific Clinics remains deeply committed to growing a diverse, skilled, compassionate peer support workforce that reflects and uplifts our communities.
