In the episode “Rehab” of the “Deadly Pill” podcast on iHeart Radio, Team Supervisor Prue Cooper, director of paraprofessional/SUD training & innovation, talks about the opioid epidemic, the (up to) 75 percent of people with co-occurring mental health and addiction disorders, and the effectiveness of certain treatments and medications. She also discusses the top reasons people become addicted, the problematic “rehab shuffle” phenomenon, and the shame and stigma that still exists with both disorders. Ultimately, she says, “there needs to be integrated care.”
