Pacific Clinics’ Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) provides immediate care for children and teens experiencing a mental health crisis. Our team works to stabilize young people quickly and safely, offering an alternative to emergency hospitalization.
A mental health crisis can look different for every young person. It may be behavior that puts them at risk of hurting themselves or others, or an inability to care for themselves or function in the community. Whatever the situation, the CSU is designed to respond.
Children and teens between the ages of six and 17 can be referred to the CSU through mobile crisis units, partnering psychiatric facilities or law enforcement. Once admitted, each young person is assessed by a psychiatrist and nurse and connected with case management support to determine the right next steps for their care.
The unit is available for stays of up to 23 hours and 59 minutes, giving our team the time needed to conduct a full psychiatric assessment, stabilize the youth and create an aftercare plan.
The CSU has been in operation since 2014 and has been a consistent resource for Bay Area families for over a decade.
The unit’s primary goals are to provide safety and support during a moment of crisis and to avoid the need for long-term hospitalization whenever possible. Our team uses therapeutic, evidence-informed approaches to help young people stabilize and move forward. We also aim to give each youth a realistic sense of hope that there is a path forward.
The CSU operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week out of our Campbell location. Between 15 and 20 employees are on site at any given time, including:
Our employees are experienced in youth mental health and committed to providing compassionate, consistent care around the clock.
We work closely with families, referring agencies and community partners throughout the process. Our case management team helps determine whether a young person needs a higher level of care or is ready to return to their community and connects them to the right resources.
Pacific Clinics’ Crisis Stabilization Unit is available every day, at any hour. If a young person in your life is in crisis, our team is ready to help.
We aim to make a positive difference in the communities we serve.
