CBS News Bay Area’s Veronica Macias recently participated in a ride-along with The Trusted Response Urgent Support Team (TRUST), a community service provided by Pacific Clinics and Momentum for Health. Her report highlighted the TRUST program and how it helps Santa Clara County residents during urgent mental health or substance use situations.
While they visited an encampment in the area for this news segment, the TRUST team helps people from all walks of life.
“It’s not just unhoused individuals, we go to families — regular people on the street that you see walking next to you every day — it’s moms, it’s dads, it’s grandparents, aunts, uncles, it’s everyone,” says First Aid Responder Supervisor Devynn Polochak.
“In providing that empathy, we’re able to show people that the light is still there, even though it might not be visible, and we can navigate back towards it together,” says TRUST Program Manager Elyse Malcolm.
