The San Jose Hope Center’s Youth Advisory Board, comprised of 25 Hope Center clients interested in developing leadership skills and making a difference in their community, recently hosted a booth at the “No Estamos Muertos” community event at Cesar Chavez Park in Downtown San Jose; to amplify cultural awareness around Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos), and to celebrate and embrace Latinx culture.

During the event, the youth advisory took an active role in promoting Hope Center services and provided face painting to the community. The $840 raised from painting over 200 faces will be utilized for activities and services at the Hope Center, such as field trips and food for events.

They also recruited and educated the community about the need for more families who can provide safe, loving homes for children and teens in the foster care system.
