Educational Programs

Educational Programs provide students with the skills they need to live successful lives. Our robust programs include early childhood development, classroom consultations in partnership with school districts, adult continuing education programs and parent workshops.

Support Services

Support Services offer various programs to address social determinants of health, including housing and employment coaching and placement, among other critically needed services.

Regional Executive Director of the Central Region Marilyn Sliney provides insight on a recent and disturbing social media trend in the Fresno Bee article, “Is there a fight club problem at Fresno schools? Social media video posts outrage parents.”

The article discusses the growing trend in Fresno (and nationwide) of social media “fight pages,” where youth post videos of fellow schoolmates fighting. The article also includes some parents’ concerns over the school district’s handling of the incidents and how the video postings are a possible result of post-Covid behavioral changes.

“There was less opportunity to deal with social interaction [with] their peers and manage conflict or emotional regulation,” Marilyn says. “The victim of the fight incidents, the child who’s doing the videoing, and those observing, are all contributing to what’s already a complex situation for kids.”
