Throughout May, Pacific Clinics hosted numerous events to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month, promoting well-being and self-care in communities across California.
In the Capital Region, the team participated in Out of the Darkness Walks in Sacramento and Solano, raising significant awareness for suicide prevention. They also joined the 34th Annual Kids Day in the Park, hosting a booth with games and prizes, and participated in the 10th Annual Mental Health Day at the Capitol, featuring speakers, music and workshops.
“Connecting with our local communities and each other is a critical step in the journey to health and well-being,” said Regional Executive Director, Capital Region Mary Sheppard.
The Bay Area Region held its annual Sandra Payne Memorial Softball Tournament in San Jose, with over 350 employees enjoying fun, food and recognition. “May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and what better way than a day designed to celebrate each other,” said Regional Executive Director, Bay Area Don Taylor.
The Los Angeles/South Coast Regions kicked off Mental Health Awareness Month with wellness celebrations in Santa Fe Springs, providing resources and activities for various populations. They also participated in NAMIWalks to raise awareness and funds for mental health services. “Our team connected with hundreds of community members,” said Herman Corteza, Corporate Director of Community Integration Services.
The LA Via Wellness and Recovery Center hosted a “Healing Through Adventure” event, offering mental health resources and creative activities. Participants received personal boarding passes and passports for summer adventures, culminating in an open mic night to share their experiences.
At the end of the month, the Adult Outpatient Service division of Pacific Clinics’ Asian Pacific Family Center (APFC) is hosting its inaugural “5×5 Celebration Exhibition” in honor of both Asian-American Pacific Islander Heritage and Mental Health Awareness months. This event will feature more than 80 pieces of art created by community members.
Opening Day begins Wednesday, May 26, with a reception from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The exhibit is open from May 29 through May 31 located at 9353 E Valley Blvd., Suite L, Rosemead, CA 91770. All are welcome.
In the Inland Empire Region, employees gathered at Yucaipa Community Park for a day of activities, team building and a kickball game. Regional Executive Director, Inland Empire Maria Murillo said, “Events like this are essential for fostering community and promoting mental well-being.”
