LOS ANGELES, CA, October 27, 2021 – Amy Sanchez joins Uplift Family Services as the new Executive Director for the Los Angeles region. In this role, she will contribute to Uplift Family Services’ mission, vision, and values by channeling her own roots and leading a workforce of change agents to help children and families realize their goals for well-being.
Her parents, both immigrants to the United States, sought out opportunity and freedom of speech. They knew working themselves out of poverty would be hard work, but they got help from their community, and as the years went on, their situation improved. This inspired Sanchez to pursue a life that touched on service to others.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Amy to the team and look forward to seeing the Los Angeles region continue to grow and flourish under her leadership,” said Brian Thomson, Vice President of Clinical Operations at Uplift Family Services. “Amy’s passion and commitment to our cause and community, coupled with her lived experience and deep knowledge of our work, make her uniquely qualified to lead us.”
“I am proud to be part of an organization that is a well-known, trusted partner and advocate for kids, families, and communities who are most in need. No single person has the power to erase the deep impact of trauma or eliminate the generational cycle of poverty, but collectively, organizations like Uplift Family Services, neighbors, and community activators can create transformative healing and change,” said Sanchez.
Sanchez’s previous experience as the Chief Operating Officer of a Pasadena-based nonprofit equipped her with the skills and experience to flexibly lead on the ground as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, as well as an operations manager. She made an effort to take on shifts throughout the organization so she could always keep a fresh and realistic perspective of the work, and regularly met with families to better understand their challenges in navigating complex social service systems.
She received her bachelor’s degree from Cal State Fullerton and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California.
