Children and youth involved in child welfare often receive services from multiple agencies, care teams and community providers. Effective ECM requires an understanding of these interconnected systems and the distinct experiences of the children and families navigating them.
The 6-hr course introduces the California child welfare system, the services available to children, youth, and families involved in foster care, and the role ECM providers can play in coordinating whole-person care.
Through eleven self-paced sections, participants explore foundational concepts, service-delivery frameworks, and practical scenarios that demonstrate care coordination in action.

The final section follows three youth in foster care with different complex needs, at various ages, and stages of placement; and demonstrates how ECM providers can apply the seven core services to medical, behavioral health, developmental, educational, housing and social needs.
